Maria holds a prestigious degree from Mosaic School of Friuli (Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli), Italy, which is one of the most important schools for contemporary mosaic art!
The Mosaic school was founded in Spilimbergo in 1922. It is located half-way between the towns of Aquileia – a cradle for famous Roman mosaic – and Venice – a gem of the Byzantine mosaic. The institute offers a unique curriculum: it does not only teach but also promotes the creation of internationally renowned mosaics through the development and dissemination of its art. Mosaic School in Friuli showcases its works internationally. Some of these works include famous floor mosaics by Foro Italico (Rome), mosaics in the temple of the Holy Grave (Jerusalem), mosaic art in Hotel Kawakyu in Shirihama (Japan), lightning of the rainbow colors for Ground Zero (New York), exhibitions in Royal Ontario Museum (Toronto), Deputy Chamber in Rome, exhibitions in Paris, Paray-Le-Monial, Obernai, Marsiglia, Arles (France), and Melbourne (Australia).
Maria learned the technique of stained glass while in Spilimbergo. She also practiced fusing, glass blowing, painting and engraving on the glass during her apprenticeship in Glass school Střední uměleckoprůmyslová škola sklářská in Valašské Meziříčí (Czech Republic).
Mariya is a member of the cultural association Eclectic, which was founded by a group of young people in Spilimbergo. In this group people in the field of art mosaic constructively exchange opinions and learn from one another’s experiences.
We hope you enjoy Mariya’s art. Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further information.
